Tony Vlastelica, Founder & Principal of Contemporary Energy Solutions, LLC, presented an Orion Environmental Stewardship award on Tuesday, August 27th to Shawmut Corporation in Clinton, Tennessee. Jerry Holston, Jr accepted the award on behalf of Shawmut Corporation.

Shawmut received this award following an energy efficiency project which involved removing (180) inefficient 400 watt High Intensity Discharge lighting fixtures and replacing them with (172) efficient 6 lamp T8 high bays. Approximately half of the fixture will incorporate motion control so that fixtures will turn off when areas are not occupied.

This lighting project is expected to save Shawmut $28,000 annually in lighting electricity costs. The dramatic reduction in electricity use will translate into 293,000 kWh saved and 195 ton of carbon dioxide indirectly being removed from the atmosphere.
